Hello 2015

2015 has kicked off! A very happy New Year to you and yours.

May 2015 bring to you and your loved ones peace, prosperity, love, good health and new Personal Best achievements!

Here follows some news and update on the next major event SummerCon on 24th January - I am looking forward to meeting the executive committees and those members who are keen to join us.

SAVE THE DATE: SUMMERCON 24 JANUARY 2015

Combined SummerCon for Division C, Division H and Division S

Summercon (club officer training, COTii) is literally on our doorstep. You may be asking, what is Summercon, what does this event has to offer you as a club officer or an enthusiastic POM (Plain Ordinary Member).

Summercon showcases the best that Toastmasters can offer to members’ growth as leaders and communicators. COTii allows for a snap shot at reviewing and refining goals and targets that were set at the beginning of the Toastmasters year.

Providing effective training for members, club leaders, division and area governors is a critical element towards creating a successful district. When club officers are well-trained to perform their duties, club members are better served and members are inspired to take on leadership roles. This makes the member experience more positive; which leads to a quality club experience and increased member retention.

Summercon therefore is a vital means to encourage leadership development for existing leaders and members who are eagerly waiting to serve their clubs as the next generation leaders.

Come find out what Toastmasters can offer you in terms of excellence in leadership and excellence in membership at the combined Division C, H and S summercon COTii event.

Better yet bring along a buddy from your club, there is a fantastic incentive waiting! For every club officer attending Summercon, R50 will be made available by District to subsidize the cost of a member of the same club also attending.

Take advantage of this buddy-up Summercon incentive.

We request that every person registering for SummerCon registers separately and, should you attend more than one SummerCon, register for each event.

ALB (Advanced Leader Bronze) is a great award that every Club Officer can achieve. This is how:

1. Achieve your CC and CL award.
2. Serve at least 6 months* as a club officer.
3. Participate in the preparation of a Club Success Plan while serving in this office. http://www.toastmasters.org/1111_DCP
4. Attend TLI Club Officer Training Program while serving as a club officer.
5. Conduct 2 presentations from “The Successful Club Series” and/or “The Leadership Excellence Series.”

Smile TIP: You can complete your ALB before completing your CC and CL. Just have to wait until your CC and CL are complete before submitting your ALB. Then submit CC and/or CL and ALB on the same day if necessary!

Laughing GREAT NEWS! That tip has shown you, one of the many ways to achieve a Triple Crown! (as long as all 3 awards are submitted in the same Toastmasters year.)

NOTE: * You must have served as an officer from 1 July to 31 December or 1 January to 30 June. The six months must be completed at the time you submit this application.

Download the Advanced Leader/Distinguished Toastmaster (AL) (DTM) Award Application for more detail. http://www.toastmasters.org/1228.aspx

“The DCP is about the members meeting their goals. For each goal, there are members behind them achieving their goals, becoming better speakers and better leaders.”

The Toastmasters Mission
A statement of shared values

Every Toastmasters club shares the same mission, clearly defined in the following mission statement:

We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater selfconfidence and personal growth.

Through this mission, each Toastmaster gains a clear understanding of the club's purpose, and the organization as a whole benefits from a shared set of values and goals.
