About Our Club |
Good Hope Toastmasters Club chartered in October of 1980 as a Toastmasters Club for the Simonstown Naval Base, and is now 38 years old. It is the 4th oldest Club in the Cape Town area; 2nd oldest in Division D, and the oldest in Division D, Area 1!
We have a proud heritage, and retain our links to the beautiful Indian Ocean, beside which we began - with a Master-at-Arms (the Naval term) - rather than Sergeant-at-Arms; our beautifully crafted Cannon Awards, and even our ex-Naval Members, and stalwarts.
We continue to meet monthly in Cape Town's southern suburbs, although nowadays a little further north than Simonstown. We meet at Tango's Grill, in Constantia nowadays.
We pride ourselves on our warm and welcoming atmosphere, where everyone is 'family,' that we LIKE! The Club includes a wide variety of Members from all walks of life, who span a large age range, and are always willing to assist.
We welcome new Members, and Visitors, alike - and are always thrilled to see new faces at our Meetings. |

The Toastmasters Mission A statement of shared values
Every Toastmasters club shares the same mission, clearly defined in the following mission statement:
We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
Through this mission, each Toastmaster gains a clear understanding of the club's purpose, and the organization as a whole benefits from a shared set of values and goals.
