In 1998, George Liew, a member of Dandenong Toastmasters Club, felt inspired to start a new club.
In February 1999, a demonstration night was held and, with the help of several veteran Toastmasters, the Club finally chartered with Toastmasters International in June 2000, so June 2000 is when we officially became a Toastmasters club. We christened the club: “Carrington Central Toastmasters Club. “Carrington” for the street we were in and “Central” for our centrality in Box Hill.
Our motto early on was: “If you don’t have a go, how would you know”. Between 2011 to 2015, our motto was transformed to “For better thinking, better listening, better speaking”. Afterwards, our focus was drawn more to our mission statement and we have asked members to speak it out loud at every meeting.
We celebrated 20th anniversary of our club at our meeting on 24 June 2020. It is due to our mission, care, compassion and diligence that we keep calm and carry on. We are thankful for yesterday, today and tomorrow. |

We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
Through this mission, each Toastmaster gains a clear understanding of the club's purpose, and the organization as a whole benefits from a shared set of values and goals.
