Hello Fellow Toastmasters!
What a great meeting we had on Tuesday! The room was filled with lots of laughter, lightness and great energy. We feasted on and heard about everybody's favorite restaurants and we were privy to three great speeches and three all-star evaluations! Shivani Nayyar did a fabulous job of chairing the meeting. Percy Li stepped up and provided us with the word of the day "malleable." Lisa Branch presented us with a visual joke, that it still makes me smile. Wendy Fedoruk did her research and enthusiastically introduced each of the speakers. Brendan Gentili completed his CC#4 - The First Rapid of the Day. He shared with us his adventures of rafting in Africa, and encountering walls of water, being submerged and digging deep for the courage to face the rest of the rapids. Saruab Pandey presented his CC#5 - Gone Fishing...and it had nothing to do with fish... He shared some of the misadventures he and his friends had on the Great West Coast Trail. I was right there with him, fishing that backpack out of the sea...and dealing with the implications and consequences of that misadventure. His message was to always choose to look for best way to deal with an unfortunate situation is usually a dose of positivity and humour. Kelly Newman presented her CC#8 - The Best Diet. From her viewpoint and experience, the best diet for success in weight loss and life is a foundation of self care and self acceptance.
The evaluations were dynamite and so informative. Matt Fox gave Brendan a new way to stretch to new heights using his body, Helga Bender shared how to "hook" the audience with her animated style and speaking, and Christina Kruis caught Kelly's message and helped her conclude her speech with impact. It truly was an outstanding meeting!
See you at the next one!
