Post Post subject [CLOSED] invalid email message   Posted 01 Feb 12, 18:48    Reply with quote

Good day,

I was trying to update my email address in my profile however I kept getting an error message.  I have a ' in my email address ie david_o'malley@....

From my previous experiences from other web sites the back end software has to encapsulate the text string instead of just reading the value - apparently messes with the java/javascript since a ' is a termination of a string.

Is there another method to use a ' in my email?

thanks,

David

Was that recently?

I updated the software this morning - and just changed your e-mail address to david_o'malley@... without problem

Good day,

I tried it again (a few minutes ago) and it still is giving me the same error

go to: Membership Management
  then to: Edit Member
     click on: Edit Profile
type in Email Address: david_o'malley@amat(dot)com  where (dot) = .
 click the submit button

I get the same error message:  Sorry, but that e-mail address is invalid

Thank you for updating my email address.  It looks like it's in there however.....

In the page "Meet our Members" and other pages that has a button to click to send an email there is a red x on the button and when you hover over the button it states that "user email address invalid"

regards,

David O'Malley
(those darn irish last names and high technology don't mix)

Resolved in the hotpatch that I'll install now
I just updated the software for Ireland this morning so I'm glad that you identified the problem yesterday Smile

Thank you for updating the code.

I verified that the email button is now working (x over the button is gone) by sending a test email to me.

so my immediate problem is resolved.  My email is updated and I'm getting email.

If we get in another Irish ' name member into the club then I'll have to request that you put the name in since I tried entering my email into another members email address (to verify if that is working) and it's still telling me that it's an invalid email address.  when I try to use david_o''malley@.... in the email address it kicks me out into the home page without a message and doesn't update the email address.  I'm guessing that you have a super level access rights that allow you to enter aposthrophe containing email address while the regular user doesn't have that right.   when I update the email address with another email address without the ' then there is no problem (just to show that I can update the email address field when a ' is not contained within the text box but not when the email contains a ')

Regards,
David
