Invocation & Pledge of Allegiance

Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance

While this particular functionary role is not common to all clubs, it is customary at some clubs to begin each meeting with a brief prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Prior to the meeting:

    · Prepare a brief description of your role (it can be as simple as the preceding sentence).
    · You may wish to rehearse a prayer, or you may wish to lead "off the cuff."

During the meeting:

    · When called upon by the General Evaluator, assume your position at the lectern.
    · Invite those who are comfortable doing so to join you in a brief prayer (this will help take the pressure off your guests who may not be accustomed to praying).
    · Immediately following the prayer, ask the group to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
    · When finished, return control of the meeting to the Toastmaster.
