River Talkers Toastmasters Club - San Antonio, TX
Need to improve your public speaking skills, but don't know how or where to begin? Enjoy public speaking but need help sharpening your online presence? Want to get promoted at your job and need the expertise of an experienced group of professionals who can help?
Learn how speakers and leaders are made from the ground up. Attend The River Talkers Toastmasters Club, a growing and vital chapter of Toastmasters International that meets Thursday evenings in Northwest San Antonio. You'll learn how to face your fears, better organize your thoughts, think on the fly and speak with authority, humor, and credibility.
A Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere. There are no instructors in a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, members evaluate one another's presentations. This feedback process is a key part of the program's success.
The River Talkers Toastmasters Club meets every Thursday night from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in a Zoom meeting (until we can meet again in person at the Sea Island Shrimp House in the Bandera Pointe shopping center). |

From Our President
Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. Our membership is 313,000 strong. Members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 14,650 clubs in 126 countries that make up our global network of meeting locations
The world needs leaders. Leaders head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others. These leaders must not only accomplish, they must communicate. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, leaders emerge from the Toastmasters program. Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback—and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership.
Now that we are meeting online via Zoom, we are adding on-line presentation skills to our repertoire! Learn how to share presentations, connect with the audience through the camera lens, and leverage the computer screen to your advantage.
Do you have questions? Click on the Contact Us button with any questions you may have, and we'll be sure to answer them as soon as possible.
Better yet, learn more about Toastmasters by coming to our next meeting! Look forward to seeing you soon!

The Toastmasters Mission A statement of shared values
Every Toastmasters club shares the same mission, clearly defined in the following mission statement:
We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
Through this mission, each Toastmaster gains a clear understanding of the club's purpose, and the organization as a whole benefits from a shared set of values and goals.

Does the mere thought of standing up to say a few words fill you with fear?
If so, you’re not alone! Fear of public speaking is reputed to rank even higher than death! Whether it’s the upcoming wedding speech, an important pitch to a client, or simply making your point in a meeting of colleagues, it’s easy for the fear to take over – so that you don’t perform at your best. There are consequences for how you’re viewed by friends, family and your boss, with follow-on emotional and economic impacts.
So what would you like to do about it?
If you’re employed in a reasonable sized organisation, you might have already attended a presentation skills course. Whilst good, you might have found that the learning wore off quickly and you’re still not that much further forward. If you really want to tackle your fear, and also if you’ve not got access to in-house training, Toastmasters is the perfect answer.
Our wide network of clubs and their learn-by-doing programme are sure to help you become a better speaker and leader because you’ll be building your skills at a pace that you choose. And the regular meetings (typically twice per month) ensure you practice and develop your skills – just as you might build your muscles through regular exercise (well some of you might!).
Here are just some of the benefits of joining Toastmasters:
- Regular and constructive feedback from other learners as you practice organising your thoughts and presenting them clearly
- Access to a wealth of educational materials and resources on public speaking, listening skills and effective communication in conferences and meetings.
- A free subscription to the Toastmaster, a monthly magazine that provides insights on communication, leadership, club activities and other relevant topics.
Members quickly gain the skills that allow them to excel at job interviews, present humorous, informative or special occasion speeches or give powerful business presentations.
Come along to our next meeting to find out more and see it in action. Guests are most welcome and can come as many times as they like.
