Recipient: Amanda Russon, ACB ALB
Based on Toastmasters club activities and personal achievements, including educational program, club administration, membership, and other club activities
“Wow! What an honor! I was introduced to Toastmasters by a mentor at work. I wanted to take on a leadership role but had no way to prove that I had leadership skills. Working through different executive roles at Toastmasters, planning events and taking roles within the club gave me the opportunity to work with a variety of people, to learn what I did well and where I needed to improve. The award only comes after being nominated by your club and considered by the awards committee, to be nominated meant the members and the executives of 2014/2015 felt our year was worthy of this prize. As a leader I have learned the importance of listening, empowering others and how to effectively communicate with a team. The key, surprisingly enough, was not to be the centre of attention because I was the President of Brampton Toastmasters but instead to serve the club and help the executive team and members in anyway I could, the rest seemed to take care of itself. What a fantastic year, excellent work to the members of Brampton Toastmasters and the Executive of 2014/2015!”
