Opening your speech

The opening of your speech is your first impression on the audience.  As the saying goes, you don'''t get a second chance to make a first impression.  So take Darren LaCroix's advice and make it memorable.

The Eyes Have It

It's important to have good eye contact.  However what is "good" eye contact?  It means different things in different cultures.  Eye contact that is too intense can be offensive!  There are some great tips about eye contact in the December 2013 issue of Toastmasters Magazine (in fact, it's the cover story!).  If you don't still have your issue, fear not!  You can read it at http://www.toastmasters.org/magazine.aspx (and that's last month's edition as of this post, so even non-members can read all about it!).
