The opening of your speech is your first impression on the audience. As the saying goes, you don'''t get a second chance to make a first impression. So take Darren LaCroix's advice and make it memorable.
Don't open with "Good morning," and don't open with a joke! He explains why:

Closing your speech (this is important!)

The only thing more important than how you open your speech (which is your first impression on the audience!) is how you close it. Why? It's the thing your audience is most going to remember. It leaves the audience in a certain mood, and affects how the audience will remember you.
