How to be the Evaluator

Evaluator - Provides a speaker with a written and oral evaluation of the speech. The evaluation outline for each speech is provided in the project manual. The purpose of the evaluation is to provide the speaker with constructive feedback on the speech, including encouragement and areas for improvement.  Evaluations point out what was done well, offers suggestions for improvement, and motivates members to take on the next challenge.  Evaluations help to have a positive effect on members.  A Toastmaster should leave an evaluation wanting to work on their next speech and come back to Toastmasters.  Remember - an evaluation is your opinion and everyone's opinion is valid.  Sometimes an Evaluator can only offer a suggestion on how the speech could have been done differently instead of better, but even that suggestion may spark ideas in even the most experienced speaker.
