Good Afternoon Fellow Toastmasters!

 

Please read through this email, there is a lot of important information and every needs to take a minute to just be aware of all the exciting things coming up for 222 Jarvis Toastmasters.

 

 

Area Governor Visit - This Thursday!

First up, this Thursday our Area Governor, James Rollo, will be coming to visit. If you can make it out to this Thursday's meeting, please do. We need to show him the great progress our club has made in less than a year! This week's theme is Teamwork, and we are a great team so let's show it off! Remember to confirm your attendance in easy-speak.

 

 

Calendar of Events - September

I've attached a calendar that includes all of the important dates coming up. More information will be provided as it is available. 

 

September 2 – Table Topics Lunch & Learn; 12 – 1 pm Harrow (9th floor)

Table topics is intended to bring the fun to impromptu speaking. Francois will review some tips and tricks on how to participate in table topics. Also, Francois will be demonstrating a table topics contest. 

 

September 9 – Welcome Back Potluck! Midland Room (Lower Main)

More information coming! Lots of food, key note speaker, and an opportunity for everyone to get back together and get re-energized as we head into fall. 

 

September 11 – Humorous Speech Contest;  12 – 1 pm Harrow (9th floor)

Lots of volunteers are required for the contest. Help your fellow Toastmasters who are stepping up with courage to participate by volunteering for a role in the contest. Available roles are:

  • Chief Judge
  • Judges
  • Timers
  • Ballot counters
  • Sergeant  at Arms 

 

September 19 – Annual Toastmaster Fees are due!

Stay tuned for more information regarding fees.

Elevator Pitch

If anyone would like to record a 1 minute elevator speech about Toastmasters, please let Anne or Nicole know. Due date for this is Sept 5th so they can be viewed at the Welcome back potluck. 

 

 

Fall Conference

The District 60 Fall Conference is occurring on November 22, 2014 at The Chestnut Conference Centre (89 Chestnut Street near University and Dundas).  The theme is Legendary Leadership. The early bird rate is $99.00 and the deadline for this rate is August 30th. After that date, the rate expires and the fee increases to $159.00.The password to register is chestnut. This is going to be an amazing conference!

The Fall Conference will be one of the largest conferences that the District has hosted. There are so many reasons to attend. They are:

  • Excellent educational workshops
  • Networking opportunities
  • The Keynote Speaker, Eric Solowka
  • The Humorous Speech and Table Topics contests
  • The Communication and Leadership luncheon, Hall of Fame
  • The business meeting (Leaders have a say in D60 decisions)
  • Entertainment and fun!

  VPE, Meeting Manager - You may change the sequence of assigned Speakers or Evaluators etc by clicking on the blue/red arrow on the view_meeting screen. FOr example, clicking on the arrow for 1st Speaker will swap the assignments for 1st and 2nd Speaker.
