The Siemens Toastmasters Club was started because we saw a need for our customer facing personnel to be more confident when addressing customers.
We knew confident communicators are more successful at selling a message, this leads to more engaged customers that in turn grows our business.
The Toastmasters program and particularly the new Pathways series is an effective way of providing training compared class room providers.
In a previous working life some of us have attended classroom training which was very good at that time however, as the months and years passed the skills diminished and our confidence waned.
Toastmasters provides a long term sustainable path which builds skills and confidence, the system also provides a means of networking both within Siemens and the wider community.
Most importantly Toastmasters provides a nurturing environment for people new to public speaking, its fair to say most people are most apprehensive during their first speech and eventually they almost have a need to speak in public.
Our goal is to make the Siemens club sustainable in the long term and not rely on one or two people to drive its success.
