Meeting:  Wednesday, January 30, 2013
In Attendance: Rueben, Elyanor, Rosario, Kathy, Julie, Burton, Val, Chris, Elena, Burton

Theme:  Favorite Winter Activity
Word of the Day:  Well Away

Rosario started off the meeting the usual well.  Introducing the meeting theme, and the word of the day.  The only problem was, we could not quite come to a consensus on what Well Away meant.  So we just moved on with our favorite winter activities.  These ranged from none at all (Julie), to sitting in a hot tub (Kathy), to everything (Elena).

Elena gave her Ice Breaker Speech titled “The Waves Extinguish the Wind”.  This came from a book called Time Wanderers.  Through her speech she explained how human understanding is limited, and we have to fight to not accept life circumstances no matter how hard.  When the wind blows it creates waves.  We need to fight for our future, and stay strong to deal with whatever comes your way.  Excellent speech Elena!  Thank you for sharing.  We all got to know you a little better today.

We had time for Table Topics today.  Rosario talked about her favorite book and movie; Julie’s biggest problem in the world is how we are grouped together; Chris laughed the hardest at a recent humorous speech contest; it was decided that we should not buy Burton any gift; Rueben’s  favorite vice if there were no side effects would be snacking; Elena would rather be honest than kind when speaking; and Elyanor decided that what makes her generation so unique was in fact, her!!  And the winner is.....Elyanor!
Announcements:  Need contest chairs for our Evaluation Contest on March 6; International Speech Contest on March 20.  If you want to be a contestant, please contact anyone in the executive!
