Toastmasters International is a global organization of over 345,000 members. Through its education program and a network of over 15,900 clubs, Toastmasters International provides its members with the opportunity to develop their communication and leadership skills in an encouraging, non-critical environment.
Through the extensive resources of Toastmasters International, you can become a better public speaker and leader. The following are testimonials on the value of Toastmasters:
SMART Speakers is a Toastmasters club for employees of SMART Technologies and the University of Calgary and anyone else interested in improving their communication and leadership skills.
Since its founding in 2011, SMART Speakers has helped dozens of members improve their abilities in public speaking, leadership and more. Joining our club is also a great opportunity to meet and network with others. You can learn more about the club by joining us at one of our upcoming meetings.
SMART Speakers meets most Thursdays at noon at SMART Technologies in northwest Calgary. Guests are always welcome to join us.
If you work for SMART Technologies outside of Calgary, contact us to learn how you can attend meetings remotely.
Most meetings last one hour with one or two prepared speeches and several impromptu speeches called "Table Topics." There are opportunities for everyone to participate in the meeting, and the club encourages members to sign up for meeting roles in advance using the meeting management tools available on this website.
The following video, from Toastmasters International, shows how a typical club meeting works.
