About Bedstone Olympics Toastmasters

Since its founding in 1989, Bedstone Olympics has helped dozens of members improve their public speaking, leadership and so much more. Notable mentions who are past alum in our club are: X, Y Z. (seek permission to use their names). We truly are a Toastmasters club for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. We welcome everyone interested in improving their communication and leadership skills, regardless of their race, sex, religion.

At Bedstone Olympics, our mission is to create a welcoming, relaxed and fun environment that helps our members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a very supportive atmosphere. A key differentiator of Bedstone Olympics is that we VIDEO RECORD each speech and the recording is sent back to only the speaker for self-assessment (in conjunction with members’ feedback). Joining our club is a great opportunity to meet and network with others. You must see it to believe it. Come visit and join one of our upcoming meetings, we cannot wait to see you!

About Club Meetings

Bedstone Olympic Toastmasters meets every Wednesday night at 7:30pm on the 3rd floor of HHCA (Huntington Hills Community Center) Calgary. The weekly meeting frequency ensures all everyone has an opportunity to speak and participate. Guests are always welcome to join us. FREE PARKING on site.

Meeting are typically 2 hours and are reduced to 1.5 hours during the summer. During the time, two or three prepared speeches are completed, and impromptu speeches are completed during the Table Topics portion. After a quick break, the evaluations portion of the meeting gives members an opportunity to practice their listening and evaluation skills. Finally, test your listening skills during our member favorite Quiz section of the meeting. At Bedstone Olympics, meetings are organized, with defined structure and the roles are delegated in advance. Nonetheless, there are opportunities for everyone to participate in the meeting.

The following video, from Toastmasters International, shows how a typical club meeting works.
