myopia (noun) my-O-pi-ur

Short-sightedness (both literally and figuratively).

Having worked as a film critic for nearly 20 years, I had frequently been accused of movie myopia and asked how I could possibly pass judgment on the new big-screen releases without any awareness of what was happening on the small screen.
