Our Blog  (Astounding Communicators)
Toastmasters Notes 9/3/13

Dear
Fellow Toastmasters:

Important Announcement: As of
this week, we will no longer be using the Free Toast Host website.  We will now be using the Easy Speak website:
www.easy-speak.org.  You should all have
received login information (if not, please contact Sarah Krieger) and we will
do a demonstration at this week's meeting.

In
this email you will find:

  • Summary of last week's meeting

  • Agenda and Open Roles for this week's
    meeting

  • Announcements for upcoming events
including club contests and the Speechcrafters workshop!

Juan Garduno was our Toastmaster last week.  This week's theme was "Great
Speeches".  Juan gave excerpts from
famous speeches including Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream"
speech.  Great speeches, Juan said,
should be "masterfully constructed and beautiful to hear."

Faith Wallis gave a
speech entitled "Do it Yourself - With Some Help from the Internet."
She talked about websites which give instructions on how to do everything from
baking to crafts.  The websites included
were: You Tube, Pinterest, and Instructables.
Check them out for instructions on how to make your own office supply
star ship.  Her speech was evaluated by
Elizabeth Johnston.

Matt Bartusek led a
very amusing Table Topics session themed mostly around pumpkins (and college
football). Mark refuses to dress up like a pumpkin and Sarah tried to get Jon
to shoot an explosive laden pumpkin out of a pumpkin cannon (he reluctantly
agreed).

Mark Hammerton
diligently recorded everyone's grammar and use of the word of the day
"punctual".(Which the timer forgot to use).

Amy Fischer was our
timer and Matt Bartusek our general evaluator.

We welcome guests Marcus Sheldon and Srikanth Gadeela who especially
enjoyed the table topics portion of the meeting.

In order to have a successful meeting, we need people to sign up
for roles.

The following people are signed up for this week's meeting:

Toastmaster: Thank you to Elizabeth Johnston for signing
up!

Speeches: Amy Fischer, Kamel Rahmoun and Matt Bartusek

Grammarian: AVAILABLE

Timer: Faith Wallis

Table Topics: AVAILABLE

General Evaluator: AVAILABLE

Evaluators: 3 AVAILABLE

Videographer:AVAILABLE

If you are signed up for a speech and need to cancel, please let the
Toastmaster or a club officer know at least a day in advance so that the agenda
can be adjusted appropriately.

At this week's meeting, we will be
having an overview of how to use the Easy-Speak website to sign up for meeting
roles and speeches.  Please take a moment
to log on to the website and familiarize yourself with it.  Feel free to bring your laptop to the meeting
so that you can follow along.  After the
meeting, please log on and update your information and sign up for future
roles.  This website has a lot more
information than we've previously had and will hopefully be useful to our
members!

Announcements:

timer), please contact Jeff Griffin.

World Fest at the Peoria Civic Center!  Toastmasters is looking for volunteers to
